Keep North Yorkshire Clean

North Yorkshire Council’s new campaign Keep North Yorkshire Clean is encouraging
visitors and residents to dispose of their rubbish responsibly. The council is working with
parish and town councils to display new weatherproof anti-littering posters in areas where
litter is an issue. The posters will also be going up in laybys, green spaces and other areas
to remind people to do the right thing – take their rubbish home or put it in the bin. The
campaign is aimed at generating a debate about the issue of littering and the impact it has
on communities. It features common terms using the Yorkshire dialect including ‘gerrit in’t
bin’, ‘take yer litter home, ta’ ‘keep t’ place spick and span, ta’ and ‘keep t’ place clean as a
whistle ta’. Road users will also be reminded not to litter from vehicles as the campaign
includes anti-littering messages on car parking tickets, on petrol pump nozzles, at services
stations and on buses operating across North Yorkshire.
